GAME plan

After visiting ISTE website, I was able to pick two areas to set goals and use the GAME plan. These two areas would be creativity and innovation; and collaboration and communication.

My first goal would be working on getting students to identify their prior knowledge and helping them identify what they know.

My second goal would be to work on communication skills. Communication skills in business can make or break a business so it is important that I use correct communication with my students but that the students learn correct communication as well.

The actions I will take will be to initiate open discussion before assigning projects. This will improve both skills. I will also use different forms of communication with the students and have them communicate with me in different forms.

I will monitor progress based on the products developed. I will have rubrics to assess formally.

When it comes to evaluation I reflect each day as I drive home. After my reflections I then writes notes next to each lesson on how things went and what I might do differently next time. I use these notes for planning purposes the next time I teach that particular lesson.

  1. Kelly,

I am a business teacher as well and couldn't agree more with you about the importance of communication in a business setting. This area can be overlooked at times in our high schools due to the focus put directly on content. I think you have a great GAME Plan that your students will really benefit from.

  2. Kelly,

I completely agree that the actions step of the GAME plan can be the hardest part to complete. Not only do they have to make sure that they are relating their action steps to the goals they wish to achieve, but they need to make sure that they are steps that can be monitored and evaluated as well. I agree also that the more they create GAME plans the better they will become at this process and will thus be meeting many of the NETS-S standards towards technology proficiency. Just going through the GAME plan process myself, it is easy to see how this could be a very beneficial process to students, especially in making them take the steps necessary to reflect on their learning as well as take responsibility for it.
