I went into school to revise my lessons to incorporate blogging, voice threads, digital story telling and put my game plan into place. I was able to write my lessons and get my rubrics written but when I tried to practice going through the lessons I found out that some of the websites are now blocked. I was unable to get on the blogging site and the voice thread site. I was able to ask the tech team to download the digital story telling software so we will see if I can get it loaded before school starts.
I think getting these items put in place will help with communication and creativity. I am so excited for my new group of juniors entering my program. I am looking forward to watching them learn using all the new tools I have in place.

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteGood idea to go through what your students would to troubleshoot and find possible obstacles like blocked sites and extinct web pages. Better to do it now than have trouble in the middle of a lesson.

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThose blocked sites would have created some serious issues down the road. Checking ahead never hurts and in this case it will save you some serious headaches. Good luck with all the tools and if you find time to post again after you use them I would love to hear how it went.

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteIt seems many of the school must have updated there list of sites to block. I ran into the same problem. I made a blog with one site and went to school to try it out and found out it was blocked. I ended up using the blog site Marie suggested www.kidsblog.org

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteBlocked sites are always a problem. Our district has recently given our teachers a workaround so that we can enter a password and pretty much go to any site that we want. Of course everything that we do is logged. It's a little freeing to have a wide open scape with which to roam, but the responsibility for making good decisions is important as well.

Kelly-
ReplyDeleteThat was very smart of you to try everything out before the time came to teach the lesson! I hope your students enjoy using the new technology tools as much as we have. I have learned so much! I had never heard of digital storytelling or voicethreads until I began Walden. Good luck!
